Proximity to power. Georgetown is the law school of the American federal government. Number one or two nationally in clinical training, tax law, environmental law, healthcare law, international law, and constitutional law. Georgetown ranks in the national top ten in more specialty categories than any school outside Harvard.
Government, regulatory, tax, national security, and international law at the highest level. The Supreme Court Institute moots every case argued before the Court. Policy-minded, credentialed, and heavily Hill-adjacent. A large share arrive from congressional staff, agencies, campaigns, or the military.

Georgetown also runs the largest part-time evening program of any top school.

Four seasons, humid summers, mild winters, spectacular springs. A free Saturday looks like this: The Mall and the free museums, Eastern Market, Rock Creek Park, a Nationals game, a city full of people who work in policy.
Distance to market: Zero. The Capitol is a ten-minute walk, DOJ and the agencies are a short Metro ride, and students routinely work at them during the semester. Airport: DCA, fifteen minutes by Metro.

Since July 1, 2026 federal borrowing for professional students is capped at $50,000 a year and $200,000 in aggregate with Grad PLUS eliminated, under the Reimagining and Improving Student Education final rule, which attributes the change to the Working Families Tax Cuts Act (https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/05/01/2026-08556/reimagining-and-improving-student-education-federal-student-loan-program-final-regulations). That leaves a gap of about $74,600 a year at sticker, our arithmetic, to be closed by scholarship, savings or private credit.
