Frequently Asked Questions

The highest possible LSAT score is 180. Fewer than 0.1% of test-takers achieve a perfect score. A score of 175 or above places you in the 99th percentile and makes you competitive for admission at every law school, including Yale and Harvard.
The answer depends on your target schools. As a general guide: 170 or above is excellent for T14 schools; 163–169 is competitive at Top 25 programs; 158–162 is solid for Top 30–50 programs; 153–157 is near the national median (50th percentile); below 153 is below median and a retake is typically advisable for students targeting competitive programs.
Since August 2024, the LSAT no longer includes the Analytical Reasoning (Logic Games) section. The current exam has three scored sections: two Logical Reasoning and one Reading Comprehension, totalling approximately 75–78 questions. The 120–180 scoring scale was not changed.
LSAC uses equating — a statistical process that adjusts for minor differences in test difficulty across administrations, ensuring a 165 on one LSAT represents the same ability level as a 165 on any other. The variation is typically small: 2–3 questions for any given scaled score across modern PrepTests.
No. The LSAT uses a purely positive scoring system. You earn one point for each correct answer and zero for wrong or skipped questions. You should answer every question, including those you are uncertain about.
Meaningful improvement is possible with structured preparation. Lovare Institut students improve a median of +16 points from their diagnostic score to their official test score, based on the Aug–Dec 2024 cohort (n=36). The degree of improvement depends on starting point, study time, and the quality of preparation methodology.

This tool provides approximate score conversions based on the current three-section LSAT format and historical conversion data. Individual test forms may vary by 1–3 questions for a given scaled score due to LSAC's equating process. For your official score, refer to your LSAC score report.
