The 2027 MPRE will be administered March 23–24, August 18–19, and November 4–5. Registration deadlines are January 21, June 17, and September 21, 2027, respectively. NCBE has set the test fee at $185 for every 2027 administration.
As of September 22, 2026, registration for the March 2027 MPRE is open. Registration for the August and November 2027 administrations has not yet opened. The registration deadline for the remaining November 12–13, 2026 administration was September 17, 2026, so a candidate who did not complete registration, Pearson scheduling, and payment by that deadline cannot newly register for the November 2026 sitting.

NCBE administers the MPRE on two possible testing days within each administration. Your actual appointment depends on Pearson availability and scheduling. Registering with NCBE is not the final step—you must also schedule the appointment with Pearson and pay the fee by the deadline.

If you already registered for November 2026, this page’s scheduling, rescheduling, cancellation, accommodations, and score-release sections still apply. If you did not complete the required steps by September 17, the next available administration is March 23–24, 2027.
The MPRE fee is $185 for all 2026 and 2027 administrations. NCBE states this on its current registration page.
The $185 fee covers the test appointment, one score release to you, and reporting to the jurisdiction you designate during registration. If you later want the score sent to another jurisdiction, NCBE currently charges $30 per additional MPRE Score Report.
NCBE’s deadline is a hard deadline. By 11:59 p.m. Central Time on the registration deadline, you must have completed the required NCBE registration process, scheduled the Pearson appointment, and paid the test fee.
NCBE says absolutely no new registrations are accepted after the deadline. Starting the process before the deadline is not enough if you fail to schedule and pay in time.
That makes the operational deadline more important than the date you first open an NCBE Account.
A common mistake is thinking that completing the NCBE portion alone secures a seat. It does not. Pearson scheduling and payment are part of the deadline.
NCBE recommends applying for accommodations well before registration. Its current recommended submission dates are:
NCBE says requests submitted by the registration deadline will be considered for that administration, but later applications create a higher risk that you will not receive your preferred date, location, or time.
Most importantly, approved accommodations cannot simply be added to an existing test appointment. NCBE advises candidates seeking accommodations to receive the determination before beginning registration and scheduling.
As early as practical once registration opens. Pearson testing-center choices are not guaranteed, and NCBE explicitly says early scheduling maximizes your choices of location and time.
This matters most if you:
Waiting until the registration deadline may still be legally on time and operationally inconvenient.
Yes, within the same administration. NCBE currently charges a non-refundable, non-transferable $25 rescheduling fee.
You must reschedule at least 48 hours before the first day of that test administration. You can change the appointment time or testing center, subject to Pearson availability.
You cannot use rescheduling to move a March registration to August or an August registration to November. Registrations do not transfer between administrations.
NCBE says you can cancel your appointment and receive a partial refund if you cancel at least 48 hours before the first day of the administration. The registration cannot be transferred or extended to another administration.
If you later want to sit a different administration, you must register for that administration and pay the applicable fee again.
NCBE says MPRE scores are typically released within five weeks of the examination date. The score appears in the Score Services section of your NCBE Account.
Do not rely on an unofficial predicted release day when an admission deadline depends on the score. A jurisdiction may also have its own deadline by which the MPRE requirement must be satisfied.
Jurisdictions set their own minimums. Current required scores range from 75 to 86, while Wisconsin and Puerto Rico do not require the MPRE. Connecticut and New Jersey permit qualifying professional-responsibility coursework as an alternative.

Best for students who want the requirement out of the way early, have completed or are taking Professional Responsibility, or need a score well before summer bar-prep demands. It is also the only 2027 administration currently open for registration as of September 22, 2026.
Can fit rising 3Ls and graduates who want to test after summer, but consider overlap with bar exams, internships, OCI, and the start of the academic year. Check your jurisdiction’s timing rule before assuming August works for a particular admission timeline.
Useful for students who need a later attempt or who prefer to take the exam after a fall Professional Responsibility course. It also leaves less room for another attempt before some bar-admission timelines, so build in margin if the MPRE is still outstanding.
NCBE does not publish a national lifetime cap on MPRE attempts. You cannot register for or take the MPRE more than once in the same administration, but a candidate who does not earn the required score can register for a later administration.
Your jurisdiction may have admission-timing requirements that make repeated attempts practically consequential even without a national attempt cap.
For each administration, create four calendar reminders rather than one:
Add a fifth reminder for any jurisdiction-specific deadline by which the score must be earned or reported.
