The invitation itself is the signal, since Cornell says it invites applicants it is strongly considering. Cornell also closes the door on the alternative: in-person interviews in lieu of the standardized online assessments are not conducted, as a matter of equity and fairness to all applicants. Length, question count and retake rules are not published.
Cornell does not publish a question list, and neither does any other law school. What every admissions interview we have seen reduces to is five archetypes, and this drill is original to Lovare rather than reproduced from any school's materials.
Prepare the archetypes rather than a script. Interviewers probe exactly the answers that sound prepared, so over-rehearsal is the failure mode, not under-rehearsal.

Our read on the surrounding posture: invitation-only and used more than at most peers, though the channel is the Kira assessment rather than a staff conversation. On yield, real. Cornell's 18.2% acceptance rate is the most forgiving in the T14 and it waitlists strong candidates it expects to lose.
Asynchronous video is a different skill from conversation, and this is the single biggest reason capable people underperform at Cornell. There is no interviewer to read, no back and forth, and no chance to recover a bad opening.
Add one extra rehearsal for the format itself before you rehearse the content. Sit where you will record, check that your face is lit from the front rather than backlit by a window, and put the camera at eye level.
Answer to the lens rather than to your own image on screen. The recording reads as eye contact only if you are looking at the camera, and almost nobody does this on the first try.
Practise finishing early. A prompt with a hard cutoff punishes the answer that runs long far more than the one that ends with a few seconds spare.
An interview, or its absence, moves a file at the margin. It does not move medians, and no applicant has ever talked their way past a number gap that large.
Cornell admitted 18.2 percent of 4,608 completed applications for the fall 2025 entering class, at LSAT and GPA medians of 173 and 3.92, with 25th percentiles of 168 and 3.75.
Read the 25th percentiles rather than the medians if you are below the middle, because that is the band you are actually competing in.

Schools that publish anything at all describe the same short list, and Chicago's version is the most explicit in this set: communication skills, motivation, maturity, and contribution to the school.
None of those is a knowledge test, which is why preparing facts about the school is the wrong preparation. The table below is how we translate that list into things you can actually rehearse.

Notice what is absent. Nobody is scoring whether you know the name of a centre, and reciting one without a reason attached actively reads as preparation rather than interest.
First, answering the question you rehearsed instead of the one you were asked. This is the most common failure and it is instantly audible, because the answer arrives too fast and fits too well.
Second, the failure story where you were right all along. Interviewers ask about failure to see whether you can hold a mistake, and a story that resolves into vindication answers a different question than the one asked.
Third, the generic why-this-school. If your answer would survive a find-and-replace of the school's name, it is not an answer.
Cornell wants to know you understand what Ithaca is. Applicants who visibly have not thought about three winters in the Finger Lakes read as flight risks.
Two reviewed passes beat ten unreviewed ones, and the review is where the work happens. Here is the whole protocol, which takes about ninety minutes total.
Pass one: record yourself answering each of the five archetypes, once, without stopping to restart. Do not watch them yet.
Then listen back with the video off, because audio alone strips out the reassurance of seeing yourself and leaves the filler, the vagueness and the sentences that never land. Write one sentence per answer naming the single worst thing about it.
Pass two: re-record each answer once, fixing only that one thing. Then stop. A third pass starts producing a performance rather than an answer, and interviewers are unusually good at hearing the difference.
